In this example, we will use httpd service. If you want, list the currents rulevels where the services will be starting:
# chkconfig --list | grep httpd httpd 0:off 1:off 2:on 3:on 4:on 5:on 6:off
Command below will enable the service on runlevel 2,3,4 and 5:
# chkconfig httpd on
Using ntsysv tool
ntsysv is a simple interface for configuring runlevel services which are also configurable through chkconfig. By default, it configures the current runlevel. If the user would like to configure other runlevels, those levels can be specified on the command line by listing the levels after –level, without any spaces.
1. Install the ntsysv package first using yum package manager.
# yum install -y ntsysv
2. Enabling a service on the current runlevel. This will open an interactive tool as shown in the figure below.
Here you can select any service and select ‘OK’ to enable the service at current runlevel.
3. Enabling a service on the runlevels follow:
# ntsysv --level 2345
